Alaska Housing has an Energy Improvement Rebate program that is just starting up. Unless you live in a brand new house with a 5 star or 5 star plus rating most people could benefit from the program. There is a need for more AHFC certified raters in the out lying areas of the state but many of us existing raters do travel to remote areas also. Information is available on the AHFC WEb site http://www.ahfc.state.ak.us/energy/energy.cfm OR if you need a rating you could call me ------- ok, or any one else on the raters list on that web site.

I spoke with a representative of the Alaska Building Science Network a few days ago about the lack of energy raters in Southeast. He said that ABSN plans to offer courses in at least Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau this summer to train more energy raters. He said the dates had not been set for all classes but to check their website at http://www.absn.com for updates.

For those people who have not gotten in on the AHFC rebate program yet, there is still money so call 1-877-257-3228 or go online to www.akrebate.com. Don't forget to go to www.energystar.gov/taxcredits for the federal program. You may collect from both programs as long as you qualify.
